چکیده
Height to crown base (HCB) is an important variable used as a predictor of forest growth and yield. This study developed nonlinear, mixed-effects HCB model through inclusion plot-level random effects using data from 29 sample plots distributed across state-owned Yixing farm in Jiangsu province, eastern China. Among several variables evaluated the analyses, bamboo height, canopy density, total basal area with diameter larger than that subject individual contributed significantly variations. The improved prediction accuracy significantly, indicating variations within were substantial. was localized four sampling strategies, identified two medium-sized bamboos by at breast height per plot resulted smallest error. strategy, which would balance both measurement cost potential error, may be applied estimate localization nonlinear for moso

متن کاملCarbon storage estimation of Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens) forest stands in Fujian, China
Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys pubescens) forest is one of the important terrestrial forest ecosystems with a high potential for carbon fixation. However, the estimation of carbon storage in Moso bamboo stands has shown great variation in methods and results. A detailed field survey of 27 plots (10 m × 10 m) was conducted to investigate carbon storage of pure Moso bamboo stands in Jian-ou city, a t...
متن کاملSpatial distribution of soil organic carbon stock in Moso bamboo forests in subtropical China
Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys heterocycla (Carr.) Mitford cv. Pubescens) is an important timber substitute in China. Site specific stand management requires an accurate estimate of soil organic carbon (SOC) stock for maintaining stand productivity and understanding global carbon cycling. This study compared ordinary kriging (OK) and inverse distance weighting (IDW) approaches to study the spatial ...
متن کاملVariation of Parallel-to-Grain Compression and Shearing Properties in Moso Bamboo Culm (Phyllostachys pubescens)
As an abundant natural resource in Asia, bamboo is receiving increased attention as an engineering material due to its renewability and excellent strength. The parallel-to-grain compression and shearing properties of moso bamboo culm were examined. The growth characteristics (bamboo age, nodes, and location along the culm), as well as treatments for practical applications (hole punching and hoo...
متن کاملDYNAMIC MECHANICAL THERMAL ANALYSIS OF MOSO BAMBOO (Phyllostachys heterocycla) AT DIFFERENT MOISTURE CONTENT
Bamboo is a type of biomass materials that has great potential as a bioenergy resource in China. The thermal-mechanical behavior of bamboo plays an important role in the formation process of pellets. To investigate the effect of moisture content (MC) on thermal-mechanical behavior of bamboo, the storage modulus and loss factor of moso bamboo was determined using dynamic mechanical thermal analy...
